This one especially reminds me a lot of Sarah Dessen, the girl has an ex-boyfriend very reminiscent of Jason from Truth About Forever and Along for the Ride, but he is possibly even more of a weenie than Jason – and that takes some doing!

July 8, Rating: Writing was easy to read, it laurwn teenager-ish.

The Thing About the Truth by Lauren Barnholdt

But you could like it, so just go read it, and see for yourself……. I didn’t like Harper. Mar 26, Gracie rated it it was ok Shelves: Penn and Harper would always note how attracted they were to another and nothing else.

Not only did I not like Penn and Harper, but I feel like things were brought up yet never addressed. What happens when a prep-school drop out and a senator son’s who has been kicked out of every private school he’s ever been enrolled in, meet?

So even though I know he’s telling the truth, I shut it down. The story is told in “Before” and “Aftermath” chapters. I did feel like the characters were a barnholvt hard to connect to.

The more time they spend together, the deeper their feelings become. Due to how the barnholvt started, I was curious to find out what had happened that made them arrived this point.

However, one little lie that Kelsey told Isaac could ruin their relationship and get both of them kicked out of school.

Jan 04, Chrissy rated it really liked it Shelves: Feb 16, Reynje rated it it was ok Shelves: The story keeps you hooked and there are perspectives from both Kelsey and Isaac which make the book more fun to read. These characters have nothing absolutely lauuren in common apart from a shared adoration of Penn.

Through to You

The family problems involving both of the characters never truly got resolved those issues were kind of just pushed aside for the romance. I love this book so much that I perfecr not going to admit how upsetting it is that the “villain” not really but I can’t think of anything else to call her has my name.

Harper is the classic good girl, who doesn’t ever do anything wrong, and is essentially the barnhkldt person, and lets everyone she knows down by dating Penn.

I thought that this would contain an interesting plot, but i guess I thought wrong: I had read Two-Way Street a few years back, and although I didn’t particularly love it, I do remember wanting to know what the twist was and to see the relationship be When I began reading The Thing About the Truth, I was looking for, well, fluff. Chloe, Marshall, and the cover are the only real saving points for me.

I received a free copy via Edelweiss. I liked Harper and Penn characters, though.

I couldn’t get into the story at all, it felt very plain and boring and the characters were horrible. Jun 15, Stacee rated it it was ok Shelves: They spend the day together, they kiss, and then not a word is exchanged in the next two weeks.

The Thing About the Truth

However, I still wouldn’t recommend it to anyone since the characters are not developed, the romance is forced and close to pointless, and the whole story is extremely predictable that I’m getting sleepy just thinking about it. Hopefully, her next book will be an improvement from this one. Laren have read a few kissiing books written by Lauren Barnholdt and I absolutely loved each one of them.

Maybe if it was longer the author would have been able to flush out the story and the characters more. All the usual suspects are wheeled out:
