Night Falls on Manhattan It was maybe the first time I was hit with a twist- and this play has many of them! It featured a romantic kiss between the two male leads.

I think I would have enjoyed this more as a live production, but the written rendition was definitely a great diversion. I actually enjoyed all the twists, until the final scene, which was just dumb.


In this particular one though, the director chose to include the kiss, but judging by this patron’s letter, you might be led to think there had been full frontal nudity on the stage that night. How to find us.

I chose this play for my Reading Challenge in part because it was short, but also for the rave reviews on what an unpredictable thriller the story was. To make Sidney’s slump all the more painful, Clifford Anderson, a student of one of Sidney’s writing seminars, has recently sent his mentor a copy of his first attempt at playwrighting for Sidney’s review and advice. The play, “Deathtrap,” is a five character, two act thriller so perfect in its construction that, as Sidney says, “A gifted director couldn’t even hurt it.

I have now read about half of Levin’s works and not one have been a disappointment. However, he soon discovers that he’s in over his head, and nobody can be trusted.
