Chapter summary Before you proceed This is a reminder that you should shut down the system and unplug the power cable before removing or plugging in any motherboard component. Before you install the motherboard, study the configuration of your chassis to ensure that the motherboard fits into it. Make sure to unplug the power cord before installing or removing the motherboard. Failure to do so can cause you physical injury and damage motherboard components.
The motherboard uses a special design on the printed circuit board PCB to dissipate heat that critical components generate. The bit-wide data paths of these processors can run applications faster than processors with only bit or bit wide data paths. Position the CPU above the socket such that the CPU corner with the gold triangle matches the socket corner with a small triangle. Carefully insert the CPU into the socket until it fits in place.
